Dangerous Intersections

Some intersections are, by their nature, dangerous. This is especially true on popular commuter routes when the intersection is not clearly marked by the appropriate authorities. This is the situation many drivers must deal with here in Atlanta when driving on Northside Parkway, especially when attempting to make left-hand turns. As 11alive's Commuter Dude, Jerry Carnes, reported, "Some Atlanta commuters say they're flying blind when it comes to left turns off of Northside Parkway." Drivers often have to sit through multiple rounds of lights before they are able to successfully make a turn and even then are sometimes doing so at their own risk.

As we have noted before, Georgia has one of the highest traffic crash rates out of all 50 states. In the year 2006, Fulton County saw a total of 50,524 reported crashes, which resulted in 16,592 injuries. Most of these accidents were caused by a negligent or reckless driver. Other accidents can be caused when roads are not clearly marked, as is the case with Northside Parkway. Additionally, most insurance policies only cover a certain amount of medical expenses and repairs. As a result, even if you are covered by insurance, you may still need to come out-of-pocket to cover issues that might arise when you're in an accident that might not even be your fault.

As a driver, what are your responsibilities when approaching a dangerous intersection that is not properly marked? Whose fault is it when the inevitable accident occurs? Who pays when someone is injured? In order to recover, or not be liable, you must be able to prove that you were not responsible for causing your accident. That is where an experienced attorney from the Thomas Law Firm can help. We have experience defending innocent drivers and getting them the full amount of recovery they are due and ensuring that their expenses are minimized. The other driver's insurance company WILL have attorneys. That is why it is so important to have someone on your side; someone who knows the law and can properly advocate for you. Call your Atlanta personal injury attorneys at the Thomas Law Firm today to discuss your situation and how we can help.
