As we've written before, the summer can be a terrific time to be out on the water. It's also a time where it's important to exercise caution, as boating can be a dangerous activity. By exercising the proper precautions you can enjoy a terrific time with you family on the water, however, the failure to do so can lead to some painful consequences.
This past weekend on Lake Lanier, a Buford man was arrested after the boat he was driving slung an inner-tube with two passengers into another boat. Apparently the boat hit was stationary at the time of the accident. Officers with the Department of Natural resources are currently investigating and the man who caused the accident was arrested for boating under the influence as well as for reckless operation.
The importance of remaining sober while operating a boat cannot be underestimated. It's not just your life that you have to worry about, it's every else on the lake as well. If you want to spend time on the water, enjoy, just make sure to exercise reasonable caution.
