Summer time often means grilling out and enjoying a few adult beverages with buddies. It's also a time that can have serious consequences if you're not careful. Sometimes however, even the most prudent griller cannot completely avoid injury.
This past week the Char-Broil grill company issued a recall notice regarding nearly 70,000 of its grills. Apparently the electronic ignition on both grills has the potential to ignite unexpectedly, posing a significant burn hazard. The Char-Broil Company has received 26 reported incidents in which the igniter has turned "on" despite being set in the "off" position. Amongst these incidents were four burns as well as seven reports of burned or singed hair.
The two models involved are the Char-Broil Gas Patio Bistro 240 Full size grill and the model 180 Table Top grill. If you believe that this recall notice may affect you, consumers are advised to stop using the grill immediately and contact Char-Broil (call 866-671-7988) for instructions regarding how to order and install a free repair kit.
